Somali Culture Online Resource Center

SomaliCulture.org is an online resource center providing information and materials about the Somali culture for all, sponsored by  The Ohio State University Middle East Studies Center. The site was designed and maintained by the Somali Media and Cultural Organization based in Columbus Ohio.

This website is designed to be the biggest hub of particular data for users that are interested learning or researching about the Somalis around the world. Visitors are able to easily access cultural and historic resources about the Somali ethnic community. This site hosts relevant historic, political and cultural works in a user friendly format.

In the near future the online resource centre will expand to be a global Somali culture archive and the to go-to resource centre for professionals and people from all walks of life. It will provide a platform for students and scholars in the field of Somali history and culture to have their work published which will later serve as a reference medium at the same time. The center is a hub for everyone interested this ethnic community.

Somali Culture website will  serve as  a tool for the evaluation of the Somali culture keeping record of the changes occurring overtime. It will also give a cultural and heritage knowledge to the young Somali in diaspora. This will be their cultural and history reference point to their ethnicity. The scope and the purpose of the site is to serve as a cultural learning tool to those interested about the Somali culture. This is a timely and much needed since Somalis are the largest African origin immigrants to the United States, Canada and Europe. This online resource center is an educational tool for both Somalis and non Somalis, students and teachers social workers, government officials and many businesses that are either working in the community or employing members of the community.
